What is a personal foundation? Your personal foundation is made up of the quality of your sleep, nutrition, movement and love. Just like any foundation, when it is strong everything that is built on top of that will be strong as well. But when it is weak, the structure will begin to break down.
As many of you already know, and like so many of you, I have a very demanding life. I love my life but it is full!! I have to keep my energy up to be present and effective in my work, with my children and in my daily activities. When I am feeling off or out of sorts, one of the first things I do is access my personal foundation. Am I getting enough sleep and of good quality? Are the foods I am putting in my body giving me energy and supporting the demands of my physical self? Have I been moving my body to create more energy or help me manage stress, relax and sleep well? And am I making the connections that are so dear to me? Am I connecting with myself, my friends, family, my precious girls and my clients in the way that fills me up?

When I am just not feeling at the top of my game, a quick assessment of these areas usually shows what the issue is and I get to work. Getting enough sleep is probably my biggest challenge. But I re-focus and come up with a plan to put more effort into meeting that need.
Motivation to keep your personal foundation strong is important. If you can look at a strong foundation as a way to make EVERYTHING in your life flow better, feel better and be easier to handle then I think you will find yourself very motivated to make accessing your foundation a common practice. Give it a try. It is very simple but can change your life, your energy levels and your happiness!
